Vintage printed shirts

I'm dreaming of sun at the moment, which was evident when I was trying to style my Wednesday ways to wear this week! Though I loved this combination so much I decided it deserved a post of it's own!
I literally can't wait till I can wear an outfit like this outside of the house without subsequently suffering from frostbite, or being that girl who never dresses for the weather. I love how this red cheetah print oversized shirt from Oh My Love has a vintage look when it's paired with high waisted shorts and this beautiful floral headband from Topshop!

So are you desperate for a bit of heat like I am, and have been styling up some summer outfits? I'd love to see how you're planning for spring, leave your links in the comment box below!

Floral Shorts

how to wear floral shorts

How cute are these floral shorts from Topshop? I was having a clear out of my wardrobe when I found them, can't believe I'd forgotten all about them. I guess it's one of the benefits of my clothes ban, I'm finding clothes I haven't worn in ages and thinking of new ways to wear them! I was actually inspired by no other than myself for this outfit (What can I say, I'm such a genius.), by my post on band t-shirts. Who knew floral went so well with Guns n Roses?

My shirt is from ohmylove, but there are loads more available on the high street! However, if you prefer Online Shopping I've got a few favourites from Fashion World.

I love this Horse Print shirt! I think it would look great with some denim and brogues instead of the obvious cowboy bots.

This Floral shirt is currently on sale! Wear with some printed trousers for maximum impact.

Gosh, this Bird Print shirt is so quirky! This is great if you want a print that's a little different and eye-catching!

The great leggings debate.

Vivienne Westwood might be my number one fashion icon. I've spent many a shopping trip weeping over the price range of her clothes, contemplated (albeit not for long) on whether I could pull off her trademark orange hair, daydreamed about having conversations with her about tartan while the Sex Pistols played in the background. She's the kind of wacky, weird and wonderful I want to be when I'm in my seventies, and did I mention she's also a Dame?

So imagine how torn I was when I read this feature in Grazia where she
major trashed talked one of my favourite items of clothing - leggings.

“It’s quite shocking actually how some people look! [They've got] these tights on, black tights with bare feet. They would look less vulgar and less pornographic if they were nude! Nudity is quite beautiful but these tights are so rude and vulgar and awful. I think it’s a horrible look, those little cheap dresses and these black tights underneath and bare feet and there she is pushing a pram down the street. They don’t look nice!”

Now Viv, I can level with you here. There are things about leggings I hate too. More than once I've been going about my business before coming to the shocking realization that the black leggings I've been waltzing around all day are secretly see through. Primark, I'm pointing a finger here, and it's squarely at you. I don't understand the need for some people to mix them with every single fashion fad - cut out leggings? Lace print leggings? And not forgetting, god forbid, studded leggings? I've had to double take when walking past many a girl wearing, wait for it, nude leggings, which couldn't even make Kate Moss not look awkwardly naked. Don't even get me started on jeggings, wet look leggings, or for crying out loud - meggings, loosely translated as "Leggings for men". No one wants to see your junk packed in something that tightly fitted, guys.

Now, I'm not exempt to the attraction of leggings. I'm quite accustomed to the idea of printed leggings, especially after discovering brand Lovely SallyI really don't know what it is, but rather than making my cower in fear, pairs like these laser space cat (I'm sorry can we stop and mention how incredible that name is? Laser Space Cat Leggings!) ones have me reaching for my purse instead.

Now, I'm aware most people wouldn't want to wear bottoms with images of cats shooting lasers out of their eyes. Many of you will probably now think I have gone insane, and perhaps I have, after being stuck in the library for two days in a row now. I think that was a bad example to start with, dear readers.. There are some more subtle types of printed leggings to show you, like: this Silent Smoke Pair.

My argument is, in short, leggings aren't all bad. They can be a proper statement piece while still offering the complete comfort and stretchy niceness that we've all come to know and love. C'mon, even Audrey Hepburn was partial to a pair, and she was the queen of elegance and overall chicness.

Now I'm off to try and find a jumpsuit with pictures of owls vomiting glitter, or something equally as absurd as those cat leggings.

Galaxy Print and Boyfriend Tees.

how to wear galaxy print leggings

One fashion tip I will always stand by is that you can make the most simplistic outfit look slammin' with a pair of statement heels. Cue some very strange poses trying to get my backless heels in shot! This pair was snapped up in the New Look Sale all the way back in December for a mere £9! Just add a tee shirt and my BooHoo galaxy print leggings and you've got instant minimal effort chic.

TMRW Magazine

A couple of weeks ago I got sent a copy of TMRW Magazine, a new zine dedicated to indie music and fashion. It's in it's third Issue, and having had the likes of Proudlock from Made in Chelsea and Tyler James on the cover, this issue features the lovely Ellie Goulding.

The magazine is great, beautifully put together and an engaging read, and actually opened my eyes to a few great indie fashion brands!

The magazine is available online to buy, or you can find a list of stocklists on the website here.

The Procrastinating Beauty Blogger

Jennifer from Art Style Love recently tagged me in 'The Procrastinating Beauty Blogger' Tag, and I decided to take part by answering the questions! Thanks Jen for tagging me!

1. Name a beauty regime that you rarely do.

Drinking enough water! I know people hark on about it being really good for your skin and hair, but I rarely do.

2. Is washing your makeup brushes something you do regularly?

Eeesh, not as regularly as I should!

3. How long will you last with chipped nail polish?

Not long. I paint my nails to stop myself from biting them, so I try to keep them covered at all times.

4. How long do you put off buying/replacing a beauty or nail polish product even if you need it (i.e. purchasing a new top coat, foundation etc)?

Not long at all - usually I buy something new before the old one has ran out!

5. What is your worst beauty habit?

Leaving my make up on after nights out - shock horror!

6. Name something non-beauty related that you put off doing all the time?

Cleaning the oven - needs doing at the moment and thinking about it makes me weep.

7. When going out somewhere, do you leave getting ready until the last minute or not?

It depends how busy I am. I can spend hours or minutes getting ready!

8. Can you commit to spending bans?

I am! I'm halfway through a 5 month clothing ban and I haven't bought anything yet!

9. How organised is your makeup and nail collection?

Not organised at all. Its awful. I have a huge basket for hair stuff and an organiser for make up and it gets messed up every time i use something.

10. What is the longest amount of time you have gone without writing a blog post?

Maybe a week? Sometimes real life gets in the way, especially now my dissertation is nearly due!

Makeup Review and How To

Here's a first for me on this blog - I'm talking about make-up! I'm not usually a big make-up person, I like my statement lippie but that's usually all I splurge on. However, I got this benefit make-up set free with an ELLE subscription while I was at Fashion Weekend, the wonderfully named "Cabana Glama" and I love it so much that I'm terrified of it running out, because it's given me expensive taste!

Included in the set is: Hoola Bronzer, Posietint, Some kind of Gorgeous and a trio of eyeshadows.

So heres a before picture! Excuse the huge shadows underneath my eyes, they're a permanent fixture since my last semester at uni started!

et voila! I'd actually never used a bronzer before getting this kit, and I don't understand how I lived without it! It is a really good way to add colour to your face if you're prone to looking washed out like me, and the eyeshadows are beautifully natural and make your eyes pop! The Some Kind Of Gorgeous was a shade too dark for my skin tone, so I haven't been able to comment on that, unfortunately.

Again, I would also love it if you could nominate The Pretrender in the Company Style Blogger Awards! I'm going for "Best Newcomer Personal Style Blogger", as my blog is less than a year old, and would really appreciate your nominations!

Casual Fridays

I've been so super busy this past week! University seems determined to take over my life, as well as my dissertation, and what little free time I have had has been letting my brain recover by sitting in front of episodes of Girls.

So a very quick outfit post is in order. One thing that frustrates me when I'm scouring through LookBook is that all the amazing outfits sometimes look so outlandish and "out-there" that I think, is that really what these girls wear in their day to day lives?

So I'm going to give you an insight into my run of the mill, grabbing anything from my wardrobe, casual dressing. I'm not going to show you what I wear on my real lazy days - mainly because I would like to keep my dignity and my leopard print pjyama shorts to myself, thank you very much.

When I dress for University, I never really put much thought into it because, nine times out of ten, I'm running late. Who schedules class at nine am on a Monday morning anyway?

So it's usually a case of picking any two pieces that might go together, putting them on and hoping for the best.

My main "grab it and go" article of clothing is a graphic tee. I have so many stashed away in my wardrobe, and they are such a godsend, because I find that they go with pretty much anything.

This Guns N Roses top from Amplified is my favourite, and I was surprised at how well it went with my floral trousers! I think I've found my new go-to outfit!

I would also love it if you could take the time to nominate my little blog in the Company Style Blogger Awards! I'm going for "Best Newcomer Personal Style Blogger", as my blog is less than a year old, and would really appreciate your nominations!

Wednesday ways to wear: Brights
